Operation: Knapsack/Iraq Overview
This project is the brainchild of an American civilian who is working to help the leaders of Iraq rebuild their cities. His report back about the condition of the country's education sytem motivated us to act.
While American military personnel have successfully refurbished many school structures, there is still much infrastructure work to be done.
Teachers have been the target of kidnapping by terrorist groups. Children are in classes of 60-100 per teacher. Few students or teachers have school supplies to work with.
We are motivated to bridge the gap between what are relative luxuries in most American schools, and what Iraqi students currently endure.
A respected Iraqi law professor is quoted as saying:
Ignorance must be man's first enemy as stated by philosophy and religion. Without qualified people, governments can do very little.
Today's educated children are tomorrow's qualified leaders. You can help us equip Iraq's future leaders with a backpack filled with school supplies.
With your help, Operation Knapsack will fill backpacks with school supplies and send them to Iraq for distribution by American soldiers.
Imagine the difference you can make in the day-to-day life of an Iraqi child!
$30 will send one back pack filled with school supplies to a child in Iraq.
A donation of $100 will send four backpacks filled with school supplies.
A donation of $35 will send a teacher's bag filled with teaching supplies.
We gratefully accept donations of any amount.
You can donate by clicking on the link on the left side of this page.
Thank you for your generosity toward those whom Jesus calls “the least of these” as you give to this cause. Your donation will be delivered in a tangible way to children who will glean great joy from your kindness.
